For its 4th anniversary, WTRCooler hosted a celebratory open studio that included four new sets, five models, two DJ’s, and a delicious cake.

It’s been four years since I first stumbled across a flyer on Instagram for something called “WTRCooler.” I didn’t know what it was, who ran it, or what to expect — just that it looked cool. The flyer said it was an “open studio,” and the idea felt fresh: a safe space for creatives to shoot with real sets, real models, and real professionals. I remember thinking, this could actually be something. But would it work? Would people show up? What was it really gonna feel like?

Turns out, it had everything it needed — and if you knew the founders (Marissa, Von, and Roberto), you probably knew that from the start. Back then, I might’ve only had one reason to go: it was free. So why not? But now, I can give you four good ones — in honor of WTRCooler turning four.

#1 – The Sets

They didn’t play around. WTRCooler came through with four (!) completely different sets, each with its own energy. Thoughtful lighting, bright props, intentional styling — everything was designed to spark creativity. I love seeing how different photographers approach the same space and still come out with shots that feel so original. It’s one of those things you have to experience in person to really get.

#2 – The Models

They really deserve their flowers. If the assignment was to serve face and keep it pushing under the heat of studio lights, they nailed it. Not a single complaint, just presence. Whoever casted them — shoutout. And shoutout to @dpstyledme for styling each look in a way that felt bold, fun, and full of personality. The camera didn’t just love them — they made it work for them.

#3 – The Treats

What’s a birthday without food? The WTRCooler team came correct with free snacks, cold drinks, and cake — yes, actual birthday cake. Even with the Florida heat creeping in, they made sure folks were comfortable and taken care of. On top of that, local vendors were set up all around the space selling film, gear, merch, art — a little bit of everything. Also: thanks for the Nalgene, WTRCooler.

#4 – The Vibes

Let’s be real — this is what makes or breaks an event. And the vibes? Immaculate. There’s nothing like being surrounded by people who are passionate about what they do. Strangers became collaborators, ideas bounced around the room, and cameras never stopped clicking. In creative work, it’s easy to isolate yourself. Events like this remind you that you’re not alone — there’s a whole community out here, ready to connect, create, and support. That’s what WTRCooler really gave us: space to come together.

At the end of the day, WTRCooler’s fourth anniversary wasn’t really about WTRCooler. It felt like something bigger — a celebration of the community they’ve helped build. For anyone who was there, it was one of those rare moments where everything aligned: the art, the people, the energy. It was a reminder that this space exists for you — and it’s not going anywhere.
