For those of us who’ve been following Alé Salamán on Instagram (@namalas), experiencing her work in person instead of on a screen hits different. Seeing her pieces up close—the colors, the layers, the textures—it’s something else entirely. Her first-ever solo show at Honey Gallery felt like a celebration of not just her art, but her growth.
“I’ve been in a couple group shows, but this is my first solo exhibition,” Alé shared, beaming with excitement on opening night. “It’s been a really great turnout. I’m just so lucky to have this opportunity.”
The room was packed and by the time I arrived, the Situations t-shirts had completely sold out, with only a handful of prints left. Nearly every piece on the walls had a green sticker showing it had already been sold—evidence of just how much people love and appreciate her work.
The exhibition included paintings made over the past few years, with the oldest dating back to 2020—created during the height of the pandemic. “That one’s the only repeat,” she noted, pointing it out. “Everything else is relatively new.”
Her recent work blends mediums like acrylic and airbrush, each piece carrying emotion through gesture, color, and contrast. “I started mixing acrylic and airbrushing, and it’s been really fun,” she said. “This show really reflects my growth, and I’m so excited to share that with everyone.”
After a debut like this, it’s safe to say Alé Salamán is just getting started—and don’t worry, she promised a restock of the t-shirts. “This turnout has been amazing. I definitely want to do more shows like this—absolutely.”
