What inspired the name “7Sinclair”? Does it have a special meaning or story behind it?

The number 7 has always followed me. Whether it’s through religion, philosophy, or just superstition, I’ve always noticed and resonated with the number and its multiple meanings. Most of all, I feel lucky to be here. The name Sinclair was originally something I came up with to represent the luxurious life I envisioned for myself. But it later turned into something more, as the ‘Sin’ in it represents certain battles in life I go through.

How has Tampa influenced your music style or creative process?

Growing up in Tampa, I was exposed to a lot of different genres and styles. The rap music to come out of Florida in general was something I was just constantly surrounded by. A lot of those artists like Kodak, or even X, influenced me in many ways. Mainly, they inspired the way I create by doing it so freely and purely. As long as it sounds hard and it comes from the heart, you can say and make any type of music. Also, a lot of the artists Tampa currently has are very hard-working, which only pushes me to match the energy.

Your latest project, “Stories of a Sinner” is particularly meaningful to you. What’s one lesson you learned while creating that EP?

Don’t be scared to talk about uncomfortable feelings. Even though they may be hard to admit, putting that in my music has been my outlet, and I’ve actually made some of my favorite music by just being blatantly honest and open. Even if you might say something someone doesn’t like or even cringe at. Be yourself and be proud of it. A lot of people feel a way but don’t know how to explain it too. That person may find your music and resonate with it because you said something others weren’t able to explain.

Patience is key in production. How do you keep yourself motivated during those moments when progress seems slow?

Just try to remember there’s a plan set for me. Trust the universe but I’ve recently been putting a lot of trust in god specifically and it has worked for me. Great things take time. The greatest musicians weren’t great because of one body of work. They have multiple works throughout their lives that they devoted everything to. As long as I wake up everyday, evoting my life towards music and getting better, I know I’ll be great. Slow progress is still progress.

You mentioned that your mother’s passing inspired you to leave a legacy. How do you feel her influence shows up in your work?

She’s in everything I do. She was also an artist, and she is the first influence I had in expressing myself. The art she made, the clothes she wore, the music she listened to… it’s in everything I do. Seeing her struggle and stay an artist even as she left really defined what art meant to me. I think about how she wasn’t able to leave a legacy with how amazing and passionate she was towards art and fashion. She didn’t have enough time. But she deserves that and it will happen through me.

What’s next for 7Sinclair? Any upcoming projects or goals you’re excited about?

I could go on all day, but I’m extremely excited for Sin City on September 14th. Performing at a show with some of my favorite Tampa artists and creatives brings me joy, and being the one to throw it amplifies that feeling. That’s my main focus right now. But I already have two projects ready to release. I can’t wait to give them to the world. It’s just a matter of timing and resources because I like to make sure I capitalize and keep momentum going.

In a world filled with noise, 7Sinclair stands out by staying true to himself and his vision. His journey is a testament to the power of perseverance and the belief that every artist has the potential to leave a mark on the world. As he continues to grow, one thing remains clear: 7Sinclair is an artist who is here to make a difference, one song at a time.
